Way to go hypocrites, your Volvo only gets about 4mpg more than the vehicles you were vandalizing. The fact is the cost of a hybrid out weighs the fuel savings. People buy these vehicles for comfort and necessity. Fully electric vehicles are a complete scam because that energy going into that outlet has to come from somewhere, and since 60% of our energy is derived from fossil fuel that doesent make much sence either does it? How about worrying about China and the worlds other largest poluters. The truth is that less than half of published scientists believe that "global warming " is a man made occurance. Polution is definately an issue and problem, but my pickup is not the culprit.

I find it interesting to see how people make up justifications, facts and fiction to support their arguments. First of all, why do you assume I, the person who tagged your pickup or anyone else drives a Volvo. Oh I guess all "eco-freaks" drive Volvos. I guess us humans just can't resist making up "facts" to pigeon hole people they don't like.

What the cost of a hybrid out weighing the fuel savings has to do with you deciding to buy a gas-guzzler escapes me. Again note the use some irelivant argument to justify your gas-guzzler. Even if you don't want to spend a few thousand more for a hybrid, is there any reason you can't by a fuel-efficient vehicle?

I love how so many gas hog owners complain about China and India. Like that gives you a free pass to act like a glutton and buy a gas-guzzler. But hark; am I generalizing about my opponents? No I think not since I have a million emails with them always mentioning that since China emits more CO2 than their V-8 they shouldn't be taken to task for their poor consumer decision.

As for all the other reasons you use to avoid coming to grips with your love of your V-8 gas-hog, how about just accepting the fact that you decided to get 15 instead of 50 mpg's when you bought your pickup, and millions of people making the same stupid decision are making the global warming problem worse.

You also get penalized for reversing the facts. Sorry to bother you with the truth, but most scientists who study the issue say human activity is a major explanation for global warming. You had better show proof to the contrary if you are going to say otherwise. And Fox News doesn't count as a peer reviewed scientific journal.

Your mentality that places higher value on your consumer desires than maintaining an environment we can live in are the reasons you were tagged. The fact is we are at 380 ppm of CO2. We will be at 450 ppm in a couple of decades if current trends continue. A graph showing the temperature and CO2 levels for the last 800,000 years show that they follow each other in lock step. Do you deny this? Do you even know this?

At 450 ppm global warming will continue even if we completely stop adding greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere. The temperature will continue rising for centuries and the cost of keeping S.F., NYC, and the rest of the coasts from being under 20 feet of water will make our military budget look like chump change.

But why worry when it's not you but your kids and grandkids that will pay the price. There are a million reasons you can concoct to justify business as usual and buy what you want without thinking about the consequences. You can ignore the daily reports of the shrinking ice caps, glaciers, dieing coral reefs, polar bears etc. and keep your lizard brain happy with that big car ride.

They don't say "ignorance is bliss" for nothing.

Human CO2 output: from what information I could gather - people exhale about 40,000ppm CO2 (that is 4% or 4 parts in 100, that's the lowest value I found, at 5% it appears to be dangerous)

The average lung intake per breath is about 500mL at about 16-20 breaths per minute. This makes about .02 Liters of CO2 per breath at about 40,000ppm.

Lets extrapolate that: 168 cubic meters per year per person of CO2 or 333 Kilograms (1/3 metric tonne) or 732 lbs. For the population of the earth that is over 2G tons (us tons) or just under 2G tonnes (metric tonne)

My economy car produces 4.5 tons (US) of CO2 a year if driven 10,000 miles calculated by the EPA. A bad gas mileage SUV 10 tons for 15,000 (NO the Hummer only produces 8 tons). And an average car that anyone can purchase at the dealer about 4-8 tons. It would take 200million low gas mileage SUVs to produce the amount our CO2 as humans do each year (nearly double the amound for the average SUV).

The cost in CO2 emissions in printing stickers and then traveling to find SUVs getting the heart rate up producing more CO2 just doesn't seem worth the effort. Slap one on the back of your own car and call it advertising.

Interesting math ABC. I'm going to have to run this fascinating calculation past Al Gore. Add in all the dogs and cats, barnyard animals and perhaps what we need is a serious cull of the mammal population in addition to increased fuel efficiency of our vehicles.

Any volunteers?

Damn. Now I'm going to have to buy carbon offsets for my bike rides up Mt. Tam.

Funny, in the little documentary I saw the other night ,your crew was driving around ,wasting gas, looking for vehicles to vandalize in an old VOLVO!
Maybe you could tell me which hybrid or economy car will carry 4 sheets of plywood, tools , with room for my kids in the morning and after school ? Maybe I could make 3 trips in a civic, cause that would make since.

My parents purchased a Prius new in 2002, they bought into Gores scam. It was traded in last year because a new battery was to cost a few thousand dollars. It just doesnt make since on a realistic level.

I dont like pollution any more than you. The reality is that this is America, and Americans will buy what looks good and gets the job done. Focus on that aspect and you might get somewhere with this. Tesla Motors is a good example.
Because right now, (if it hasnt happened yet)you guys are just out looking to get your asses beat.

Wow. Where did you see the "SUV Taggers" documentary? Didn't know it was still floating around. Well that explains the "Volvo" comment in your previous post. If it makes you feel better it wasn't my Volvo.

However correct you may be about the American consumer, the point is that unless we keep the CO2 level from hitting 450 ppm (parts per million) we are doomed (we are currently at 380 ppm). We have maybe 20 years until we get to 450 and at that point global warming will continue for centuries even if we were to completely stop adding CO2 to the atmosphere. At that point the worse case scenario I have seen is the mid-latitudes of the planet becoming a desert. (go to http://www.imchangingtheclimate.com/Consequences.html if you have a strong stomach to see the details).

So now how important is it to be able to throw a few pieces of plywood into the back of your pickup a few times a year?
